SeaTac Central
Introducing the Preferred Scenario: Global Green
Click here to take our survey about the preferred scenario!!
After months of community engagement, technical analysis, and conversations with residents, businesses, property owners, and partners, the City has identified a preferred scenario for SeaTac Central: Global Green.
Global Green builds on the community's vision for a welcoming, walkable, and economically vibrant district that reflects SeaTac's unique identity as an international gateway. The scenario combines ideas from earlier concepts and focuses on creating a place where people can live, work, shop, and gather while staying connected to the airport and the broader region.
The preferred scenario is centered around two key themes:
Global Gateway
Strengthen SeaTac Central as a destination that celebrates the city's diversity, supports local businesses, welcomes visitors, and creates opportunities for economic growth and job creation.
Green Connections
Create a network of safe, attractive streets, sidewalks, public spaces, and green corridors that make it easier to walk, bike, access transit, and connect neighborhoods throughout the district.
The Global Green Scenario will be used to develop the draft SeaTac Central Subarea Plan, including recommendations for land use, transportation, housing, urban design, economic development, and public spaces.
Community feedback remains an important part of the process. The City will continue gathering input as the draft plan is prepared and refined throughout 2026 and early 2027.

About the SeaTac Central Subarea Plan
The vision for the SeaTac Central area (formerly known as SeaTac Landing) is for a welcoming, walkable place for residents, workers, and visitors.
The City of SeaTac is updating the plan for SeaTac Central, which includes the area along International Boulevard and the nearby neighborhoods. The plan area does not include SeaTac Airport. This plan will replace the older 1999 plan and will guide how the area grows into the future.
From 2019 to 2024, the City talked with community members, businesses, people who work at the airport, and partners to learn what people want this area to become. Throughout 2026, the City has worked with residents, businesses, property owners, airport-area workers, and community partners to evaluate alternatives and identify a preferred scenario. The resulting Global Green Scenario will guide development of the updated SeaTac Central Subarea Plan.
What Is the SeaTac Central Subarea Plan?
SeaTac Central is planned to become a lively, welcoming, walkable area where people can live, work, shop, relax, and feel connected to the airport.
The plan will help make choices for policies and rules about:
- Land use, real estate development, and zoning
- Homes and housing options
- Public spaces, sidewalks, and lighting
- Airport - adjacent jobs and businesses
- Walking and other options to get around
- Safer streets
- District character (look, feel, design, and features)
- Growth and change
Building on Previous Work
Community feedback consistently highlighted the importance of attractive public spaces, economic opportunity, a mix of uses, and safe, convenient ways to travel. These priorities directly informed the Global Green Preferred Scenario.
